Mary was born on September 21, 1956, in Martin, South Dakota. In 1984, Mary moved to Atwater, CA when her husband was stationed at Castle Air Force Base.
She worked in several industries over her career, though she is most remembered for her times as a political consultant, constituent advisor for state government; and patient advocate with local government. Prior to retirement, she was actively involved in grassroots politics, charities, and several non-profit organizations. During retirement she enjoyed spending time with her husband, children, and dogs, while still helping friends (and strangers) online.
Mary believed that there was always more that could be done to make the world a better place and was never content to rest on her laurels.
She is preceded in death by her husband W. Ralph Ward Jr.; mother Mildred Weisbeck; father James Weisbeck; brother Gerald Weisbeck; and brother John Weisbeck.
She is survived by her sister Linda Ford (husband Merle); brother Jim Weisbeck (wife Cleta); brother Frank Weisbeck; sister Roxanne Weisbeck-Farley (husband Randy); daughter Beverly Perkins (husband Nathan); daughter Sarah Ward; granddaughter Amaretta Harless (husband Richard); granddaughter Amanda Perkins; granddaughter Meg Perkins; great-granddaughter Lillith; great-granddaughter Matilda; and numerous loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Family and friends are invited to share their memories, stories, and love on the memorial website as there will not be a public in-person service. Interment to follow at a later date with private service.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her honor to a local animal rescue organization or no-kill shelter.
“May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.”
