He was born in San Francisco California on April 8, 1946. Preston graduated from Central Valley High School in Redding California in 1964. He served his country during the Vietnam War with the U.S. Army. Preston moved to Santa Cruz in 1967 and started his family.
He is survived by his son Jeff(Katie) Stone, granddaughters Mikayla Stone and Isabella Stone. He began his career at San Lorenzo Lumber that spanned 40 years. After he retired, he dedicated the rest of his years to community and church service.
Preston was a talented woodworker, he was a kind, generous and friendly man. He was loved by all that knew him. He will be deeply missed by family and friends.
