Richard Hare Cody

Richard Hare Cody was born March 8th, 1945 in Madera, California to Walter Richard Cody and Delores Alice Cody (Nee: Maroon). He went to grade school in the Madera Elementary School District, and graduated from Madera Union High School (Known now post-unification as simply Madera High School ). He served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam war and was stationed in Germany during the conflict. He was discharged Honorably with the Ranking of Sergeant.

Post-military Richard worked making electric candles. Richard met and married Donna Marie Schiller on February 19th, 1971 and had two children Michelle Marie Cody and Darrin Scott Cody. He then had a career change, working on repairing Medical Dictating Machines. After then, he spent the next 23 years serving as a Corrections officer for the Madera County Jail until his retirement. Richard Cody took his final breath in the evening of August 7th, 2026 at 6:04 pm in his home surrounded by family that loved him dearly.

He is survived by his wife Donna Cody, his 2 children Michelle Hamilton and Darrin Cody, His granddaughter Cassidy, two grandsons Dylan and Tyler, and one remaining brother Douglas Cody. Richard is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Dolores, and elder brothers Willard and Billy.
