

Stephen King Crowell, a devoted husband, educator of philosophy, and train enthusiast, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026, at the age of 86 years old in Salinas, CA.
Stephen was born and raised in Indiana to Frank & Elizabeth Crowell on May 3, 1940.
Stephen is preceded in death by his wife Lois, who he met and married in December 19, 1971 in Pasadena, CA. Soon after they moved to Salinas, CA; and sister in law Judy Landis. He is survived by his brother in law Phillip Landis of Salinas; 3 nephews & nieces, David & Victoria Landis, Stephen & Doris Landis of Salinas, Mark & Leisa Landis of Jefferson City, MO, a foster daughter Josie Tapia of Bakersfield, CA; several great nieces & a nephew; and a great great niece and nephew.
Stephen was a professor of philosophy and taught at Monterey Peninsula College, Hartnell College, and Soledad Prison, for over 40 years.
Stephen loved riding his motorcycle, model trains, and reading.
Stephen will be remembered for his kind nature, passions, and the warmth he brought others.
