Catherine Louise Maxey passed on May 22, 2026, at the age of 73. She was born on October 12, 1952 in Akron, Ohio and resided in San Francisco, California. She was predeceased by her father, Frank Snyder Maxey, and mother, Elsie Gertrude Maxey and brothers, Walter Maxey and James Maxey.
Catherine was fortunate to enjoy a life centering around music and her career. Born in Akron, Ohio, she received her music degree from Bowling Green State University. Unfortunately that degree never got used to make money but inspired a life long love and appreciation for music.
Catherine worked from age 16-62, then she enjoyed her dream retirement in San Francisco. Her first job (other than selling LOTS of band candy) was working nights and Saturdays during high school at a music store. Her retail accounting career (no accounting degree!) took her from New Orleans, to San Francisco in the 80s, to Philadelphia and last stop Arkansas.
In Arkansas, she earned her real estate broker’s license and created a career successful enough to purchase enough rental properties to fund her early retirement to San Francisco in 2014. She lived her dream enjoying opera, ballet, the symphony, live theater and all things musical. Her baking skills flourished during Covid, much to the delight of her neighbors. Catherine served on her condo board at Opera Plaza.
She lived a great life: with a dry sense of humor, overwhelming practicality, and always a warm heart for animals. She died in her own bed with money in the bank.
