Manuel was born on Graciosa; Azores Islands. At the age of seven, he immigrated to the United States, where he built a life rooted in hard work, dedication, and love for family. He spent most of his life in the Bay Area, which he proudly called home—though in his heart, home was the deep blue waters.
Manuel honorably served in the United States Navy as a firefighter, a role that reflected his bravery, devotion, and lifelong connection to the sea. He was known for his quiet strength, deep compassion, and love for animals.
Above all, Manuel cherished his family. He is survived by his daughter, Nyla, his son, Donald, and his beloved grandchildren Samantha, Hannah, Dalton, and Mason, who brought him immense pride and joy.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the family home on February 1, 2026. This will be followed by a private family scattering of ashes at sea on February 2, 2026, honoring Manuel’s lifelong bond with the ocean.
Manuel will be remembered for his resilience, kindness, and unwavering love. His legacy lives on through his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
